INDIAN DESIGN SCRIMSHAW PENDANT in IVORY
These unique scrimshaw pendants were made exclusively for Wasabi and feature Indian texile patterns. Scrimshaw refers to the technique of engraving or carving ivory, whale's teeth or bone and goes back to the 19th century. These modern pendants were carved and dyed for us in China based on popular Indian textile designs and bright colors. In addition to being hand carved, they have also been hand painted to accentuate the details.
This large pear shape pendant hangs from a locally made hand braided cotton cord with tiny glass beads and is accented with a gold vermeil bead. Cord is brown with black beads. Findings are gold filled.
